hi I have installed chrome remote desktop and it is running, but in the chrme browser it doesn't see that it is installed and running. It keeps showing this:

Set up remote access
Chrome Remote Desktop is being installed on your computer. Please wait for the installer to open and then follow its instructions.
Hmm...this is taking a while. Check to see if the installer is waiting for you to respond. You can try waiting a little longer, or restart the installer from the status bar or Downloads folder.

I created login to this site, just to say THANKS. Your directions solved the problem with Chrome remote desktop, which was been pretty frustrating.

Works like a charm. Well at least for now 😀 . Will hit up if it starts to create problems.

Hello, i've just installed a stock Ubuntu 20.04 and followed the instruction on the chrome remote desktop page but after installation i got stuck in the page

i tried /opt/google/chrome-remote-desktop/chrome-remote-desktop --start and gotten something about unable to start as no group for chrome-remote-desktop.
i then proceed with sudo usermod -a -G chrome-remote-desktop $USER and now when i try to run the command i'm getting this

I have followed the steps in the blog, however I have to reset up the chrome remote desktop every time after a reboot.
I have run the line "/opt/google/chrome-remote-desktop/chrome-remote-desktop --start"

I am trying this on Ubuntu 18.04. I am using Gnome and $DESKTOP_SESSION is set to ubuntu.

I am getting multiple errors in syslog after I reboot, name the device and create/confirm the 6 digit code:
XIO: fatal IO error 11 (Resource temporarily unavailable) on X server ":20"

I'm having problems on Ubuntu 18.04. It's all worked fine on other machines.
I get a couple of errors when running the script;

Executing: /lib/systemd/systemd-sysv-install disable chrome-remote-desktop

I wanted to update my status since I got this working with 18.04 (again). I had 6 running installations on identical hardware with 18.04 and tried reinstalling on one of those platforms. I noticed that after a new install of 18.04 and update that the activation of CRD would hang after entering the 6 digit code. The error pointed to a failure to find screen :20. I also noticed that the Google python code in /opt/google/chrome-remote-desktop/chrome-remote-desktop is different from my previous installations in that one difference is that it is requiring python 3.x wheres the old version requires python 2.x. I removed the chrome-remote-desktop deb package and installed the older one that I had archived. I also followed the files mods toward the end of here, reduced the default display to 1024x768 to improve the lag and rebooted.

Thanks for the instructions and I have it installed and running. However, when I reboot and start Chrome, I have to enable Chrome Remote Desktop each time.

At the moment it only says starting in the chrome remote desktop and in terminal it says it is running. but my chromebook will not connect. feels like it will not really start on my ubunto.
