Hey there! I'm Alan, though I tend to go by "Schykle" online. I've recently dipped into Chrome OS and Chromebooks as a side effect of my curiosity in projects like Neverware's CloudReady. I had challenged myself to use nothing but CloudReady and Chrome OS for at least a week to do everything I typically do, including all my normal connected tasks like messaging or writing, as well as some more complex things like making videos. I'm pleased to announce that this endeavour has been a smashing success!
So, I'm typically a Linux guy. I use elementary OS for almost everything, and I quite like Ubuntu as well. But, don't get me wrong, I'm very loving towards macOS and Windows 10, too! I like the way each one clicks in different ways, and I like the flexibility of having so many options... Though, my dip in with CloudReady has convinced me that there's a space in my computing environment that a Chromebook would be well-suited for! We currently already have some Chromebooks, though I hadn't used them often, but my mother does... Sooooo, I bought a Chromebook for myself!
I went in with the Pixelbook Go, and I am stoked to get up and running with it. Currently on order, I'm just waiting for my delivery! What excites me most about this device is that it's 1) a flagship, which to me is a HUGE plus, and 2) that it's the best-feeling laptop I have ever put my hands on! Holy smokes! The keyboard feels so good and it's so quiet, and the weightlessness of it, while feeling so premium? Awww man it's amazing. The screen is "only" 1080p, but even as someone who LOVES "bigger, faster, better", I think 1080p is perfect for this at 13". And, don't get me wrong, I like 4:3 and 16:10, but I am SO glad they stuck with 16:9. Seriously can't wait to get my hands on this thing.
Anyway, thanks for letting me rant, haha. Just thought I'd pop in, tell you guys what I'm up to, and where I'm headed in my Chrome OS journey! #MadeByGoogle!
